Welcome to Bellemara Miniature Stud
Bellemara is a family owned and loved stud of miniature horses (along with a hand-reared fallow deer, emus, goat and suffolk sheep, rabbits - mostly all pets!) located at Lepperton on SH3A, near New Plymouth in Taranaki, New Zealand.
Our stud comprises of approx 30 miniature horses. These carefully selected and bred horses are in a wide range of colours, we are very proud of their temperament and quality (as proven in the showring). The vast majority of our horses are supreme champions or from supreme champion bloodlines, many are from top powerful USA bloodlines e.g. Rowdy, Orion Light Van't Huttenest, Hemlock Brooks Egyptian King, and from the very best bloodlines that NZ has to offer e.g. from the USA imported stallions, Scott Creek Monarch Magic, Mistletoes Flash Magic, and SG Blue's Rapid Comet. Our careful breeding programme has a strict focus on quality, lovely temperament and miniatures that are versatile - not just in-hand show horses but great activity horses as well - but best of all the potential to be a great companion!
We have always had a vision to make our horses for sale and stallion service fees very affordable - quality at a reasonable price - excellent value given the fabulous bloodlines and show records in these horse's pedigrees. Horses have always been a love of Sharon's since a child - love of the horse is why we are in the miniature horse industry.
When you buy a horse (or horses as often happens) from Bellemara, we also offer ongoing advice and help with your "mini" purchase should you wish. Sharon is only a phone call or email away if you would like any advice in caring for or showing your mini. Many new studs have been established with foundation horses from Bellemara, and we are only to happy to help.
We also stand at stud several quality stallions - and proudly offer wonderful flat deer fenced paddocks, on a prime state highway location, for your precious broodmares (and their foals at foot), many years of experience in the hands-on of foaling mares, and getting mares in foal, and are proud of our record with getting those "difficult" mares in foal. Working on the farmlet with the horses is Sharon's daily routine, so a lot of time is spent with the horses - generally caring for them, noticing when they are in season, serving them at the optimum time, noticing if problems are occuring etc.
We are also delighted to announce that Bellemara has won the Taranaki Hi Points Breeders Award (first awarded in 2003) in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 (not entered in 2007) and in 2008!!!!! This very prestigious award is based on show results and all Taranaki studs are eligible to enter.
